2 X 4

It felt as if a big 2 X 4 hit me in the face. Was it because it’s day 27 of this frigid below zero winter? Or that the week of Obama’s inaugural is over and the shit actually hit the fan? I don’t know why but this week it came back. It wasn’t forcefully pounding at my door but a consistent light knocking, and the bad thing is I answered and let “it” in….. Who is “it” you ask?

It’s formal name is “I Don’t Care”
and it’s street nickname is “all I want to do is lay here and watch TV because I have no energy”.

Maybe you’ve met It before? Maybe you haven’t because you either live on a tropical island or you have a permanent smile on your face because your body produces excessive endorphins? But this week as each day rolled into the next and Tuesday became Thursday I decided that I don’t care that my hair is frizzy and needs a haircut. I don’t care that my skin is dry and flaky and very itchy! I don’t care that my pants are too tight cuz I eat cookies for every meal. I don’t care that the ‘check engine’ light is on in my car. I don’t care that my credit card bills are getting higher rather than lower. I don’t care that I can’t stand my apartment or the creepy neighbor down the hall. I don’t care the dirty dishes are endlessly piled on my kitchen counters. I hadn’t seen “It” in almost 7 years back after my divorce from “Life is Awesome”. It is always gone when I wake up. But as soon as I get home from work, It is there with open arms…..handing me a cookie. I am hoping by this weekend I can re-charge my battery. I actually might need a new battery instead of jump starting this old one?? Anyone got jumper cables?

You're suffering from a remote seasonal ailment: Cabin Fever.

You need to get out and do something that you wouldn't usually do.

Personally, I go to the mall and try to find as much stuff that is discounted at 90% off and see how much I can buy spending no more than $20. Yesterday, I got a new cap for $3. It was cheaper than my coffee at both Cairbou and Dunn Bros.

Nate will be curling in St. Paul on Feb 14 and 15. I'll email you the times when I get them. Watching 42lb. chunks of granite slide across slabs of ice might help too.
