I suggest you take the time to watch this movie. We can't have the head of staff of the EPA and FDA also on the boards of agricultural companies that are out there withholding information from the consumers. The EPA and FDA were founded to PROTECT the consumers. Me and you. Back when I was a young adult finding my way in the world, going green was somehow part of the lifestyle for art students who also befriended hippie biology students. We were not rich so the need to recycle our beer cans made sense. It gave us money to go buy more beer. We would pick up trash while hiking. We conserve water by not showering for a few days. We brought awareness to each other if we heard that we should boycott a produce because the immigrant workers were being exposed to bad chemicals while they picked the produce, so we could eat it. But my parents also raised me on being more Eco-friendly not because it was a choice because that is how they were raised. They passed it along to me. I had seen documentaries about the meat packing industry long ago and being a lover of animals, I had a hard time coming to terms with eating pigs, cows, chickens, etc. But my appetite and need for protein out won my sympathy for the slaughter of animals. But it didn't sit well in my brain. So I made a choice to stop eating one of the three, I stopped eating pork. I didn't eat pork for many years until I was re-introduced to bacon....so delicious! Now that my diet is so restricted, it won't be so hard to eat mostly organic and locally grown food. I am 2/3rds there already. I am making a choice. I am going to try to leave a smaller carbon foot print.
