No Wine Expert

I am no wine expert
but my recent bottle of Le Grand Noir (Black Sheep) is very good- The fantastic marriage of 60% Cabernet and 40% Shiraz- A couple glasses accompanied a pasta dinner with a rich garlic red sauce- The aroma smells like red wine and the palette tastes like red wine- I told you I am not a wine expert- Remember a few blog entries back I said I like Rootbeer and Whiskey- but I am a Red Wine drinker- I have never liked the sweet or dry white wines but recently I decide to give them another try; Sauvignon Blanc (pronounced: Sovee-yawn Blonk) and Chardonnay- So I purchased a bottle of La Crema Chardonnay and a bottle of Silver Birch Soveeyawn Blanc (very difficult finding a link for this one) I am looking for a few new recipes and then will entertain myself and these new bottles- I might just invite a few of you over for our very own Wine Club- Apparently they are out there- I am eager to learn more about wine since I look at the names and prices and places of origin on paper everyday- I know NOTHING about them- I didn't even know a Chardonnay was a white wine until a few months ago- Pleeze! I was the one buying wine on the basis of the image on the Label- My recent purchase of Casillero del Diablo Merlot- Yeah I bought it because there is a super cool dime size image of a devil near the label- A Spanish devil if it is named Diablo (and I have been told that the Casillero del Diablo Carmenere is very good) I have always bought books because of the covers why would I stop at wine- Until recently- Please tell me what you like to drink and maybe we can compare or exchange notes- Cheers!

Saratee the Traitor

I have decided that I will most likely move to Minneapolis- The southern and eastern part of Minneapolis- The Nokomis and Longfellow neighborhoods- I will still have a good short (hopefully 10 minute) commute to work- And this is very scandalous because:

A) I am a very PROUD Saint Paul Girl- I love my Saint Paul- It is blue collar and to many outsiders eyes looks "boring and quiet" Yeah, that is the way WE like it-

B) And because Minneapolis has higher property taxe$$$$ and their houses cost a lot more too- I could buy a super CUTE, affordable, non-meth lab history house in East Saint Paul tomorrow that is identical to one in Minneapolis for thousands of dollars less, But I don't want to live over there-

About every 3 to 5 years the Explorer in me gets antsy for new adventures- I need to be in unfamiliar places- I know Saint Paul all too well- I know how to get across town fast without ever getting on the freeway- I however don't know Minneapolis very well at all- That is why I am moving over there- To be in unfamiliar territory- However, I will NOT be looking for housing near where a friend lives and was recently mugged at gunpoint as the mugger stole his wallet AND walked him to a nearby ATM for more cash at GUNPOINT-

Bring it ON Mother Nature

What a brillant sight- Blue sky, bright late afternoon sun, and thick snow flurries- The sun was shining through a lacey swirl of snowflakes- It was so magical!

Drink of Choice

Rootbeer and Whiskey
One of my favorite drinks- I recently told that to someone and he wrinkled his nose in disgust- But then again he was one of my many Bad First Dates- He was drinking $9 glass of wine- What would he know- Rootbeer and Whiskey- You should try it- A little sweet- But in No Way, nothing like Laverne's (from Laverne and Shirley) warm milk and Pepsi-
