Groceries in Spanish

I always go grocery shopping on Sunday night around 9pm- Because the store is usually very quiet and almost empty- Being a single gal I never need to get a cart full of food- I just fill a hand basket with my weekly goods- So last night I was surprised to see all the people and their children- I didn't stop to wonder why they were all there- I just hurried so I didn't have to be annoyed by any of them or their children- After I weaved in and around the labyrinth of people- I had my 16 items and I headed for the "Self Check Out" lane- I have always used the self check out lane since it was invented- A time saving invention- I can scan my groceries a lot faster than the paid workers can- Apparently, I am more efficient- Unfortunately last night the only self check out lane that was available was in Spanish- Espanol- I don't speak Spanish but did take 3 years in high school- I was very confident that I could check out myself while the computer was telling me how much my broccoli and chicken noodle soup cost in Spanish- And I did- In only 4 minutes- I actually enjoyed the Spanish computer lady telling me how much each item cost

Sighting

I couldn't believe my eyes and NO I DIDN'T GET A DAMN PHOTO-
I saw the elusive WHITE SQUIRREL
It was frolicking down the sidewalk near my home- I am not sure what that means but I know it is a significant SIGN for me- A change in the cosmos, a change of luck, from bad to good- I have been running and hiding from Mr Bad Luck for the last 5 years- See it all started on a fateful evening back in Portland, Oregon 2001- On a warm autumn night, Me and my then boyfriend went out to eat pizza at a local pizza joint- We sat at the outside picnic tables trying desperately not to inhale all the traffic fumes- While we waited for our pizza I was struck by a flying EGG- Yes, some Ass*%$# decided to throw eggs at unsuspecting pedestrians or hungry bystanders like ME- The surreal thing was I saw it coming right at me- Not in slow motion but in FAST LIVE ACTION- I tried to dodge the flying object but it caught me right in the chest- It knocked the wind out me too- I remember my then boyfriend was so puzzled when I began to wince and whimper out of the clear blue- I said in a softly with the wind knocked out me kind of breath "I got hit by an egg" Still puzzled he looked confused and then looked up as if a bird dropped an egg on me- I then began to cry as I pointed down to the grown where the broken egg lay- I think it was soft boiled because it didn't splatter like you would think a fragile egg shell would- Still crying and trying to catch my breath the waiter came by with our pizza- We tried to explain that someone chucked an egg at me-And we pointed to it on the ground- And I might sue the establishment (not really, but I thought of it)- The waiter looked even more confused than my then boyfriend- Ever since that fateful autumn evening on Hawthorn Street in Portland Oregon- Bad Luck has been following me like a piece of toilet paper stuck to my shoe- I think now with the sighting of my Albino White Squirrel- I am free

The Pony Races 2006

Thursday night at the track is DOLLAR night- $1 for admission, $1 for hotdog, $1 for nachos, $1 for a Pepsi, and $2 for a Miller Lite- So much damn fun for only $6 dollars- No I didn't win any races but I had my eyes on the crowd and all those Good Looking Guys! Seriously single Ladies, if you are looking for a hot guy just find yourself a seat at the pony races on Thursday night- Be warned he might have a gambling problem

I Have Been Diagnosed With...

HYPOTHYROIDISM-By: K. Jean Lucas, M.D.

WHAT IS HYPOTHYROIDISM?

As the name of this condition implies, hypothyroidism is present when the thyroid is not able to produce enough thyroid hormone to meet the demands of the body. In the early stages of this disorder, a person may have virtually no symptoms but laboratory tests may show a mildly elevated TSH. Thyroid stimulating hormone, as discussed above, is the most sensitive test in diagnosing thyroid disorders. When the TSH is elevated, even when the T4 is in the "normal range", the body is sensing that not enough thyroid hormone is being produced.
As the hypothyroidism becomes more severe, the following symptoms may be present. Not all of these symptoms may be present in individual patients.

Symptoms of hypothyroidism:
Fatigue
Sluggishness
Sleepiness
Cold intolerance
Dry hair
Dry Skin
Hair loss
Brittle nails
Depression
Swelling
Muscle cramps
Constipation
More PMS
Change in Menstrual Periods
Increased Sensitivity to Certain Medications

WHY DO PEOPLE BECOME HYPOTHYROID?
The most common reason to develop hypothyroidism is from an autoimmune disorder in which antibodies attack the thyroid and gradually damage it enough to decrease its function. This disorder is inherited and predominates in women. It occurs commonly as women age or after childbirth.
If a person has had surgery to remove the thyroid, radical neck surgery to remove a cancer, or have been treated with radioactive iodine therapy for hyperthyroidism, the thyroid will not work because of removal or destruction of the thyroid tissue.If the pituitary is damaged, contains a tumor or cyst, or does not produce enough TSH for any reason, the thyroid hormone levels will be low and the TSH will not respond to low T4 levels by increasing. In this situation, other hormones will also be affected by the pituitary problem and will need to be checked. The pituitary controls the ovaries, testes, adrenal, and thyroid. It is extremely rare to have only a TSH deficiency without any other abnormalities in pituitary function
